Problem:

In documentary linguistics, academic data is usually limited to private archives and databases, making availability a problem.

Solutions - open archives:

Considerations:

Data sensitivity - how to handle sensitive and personal data?

Submitting information in formats that everyone can benefit from - different languages and accessibility on different devices.

Open archive is not without its problems - there mixed ideas about what can be shared and what cannot (researchers vs communities).

Data governance - who can do it, who should do it? Responsibility and rights have to be considered.
